Weight and Classification: The UAS weighs at least 55 lbs (including the substance being displaced) and falls under 14 CFR Part 137, which governs the use of aircraft, including drones, for dispensing or spraying substances.
Part 107 Pilot License: You must obtain or already hold a Part 107 Pilot License to operate the UAS. This license is issued by the FAA and ensures you have the necessary knowledge and skills for safe operation.
Part 137 UAS Certificate: In addition to the Part 107 license, you need to apply for and obtain a Part 137 UAS Certificate. This certificate allows you to use the UAS for dispensing or spraying substances in compliance with regulations.
Important Updates:
Expiration of Section 44807: The FAA Exemption granted by Section 44807 expired on September 30, 2023. Compliance with all regulations is now mandatory, and previous exemptions are no longer valid.
Remote ID Compliance: Drone pilots have been expected to comply with Remote ID requirements since September 16, 2023. The FAA will determine enforcement through March 16, 2024, considering relevant factors.
